Carbon monoxide detectors come in different models, just like smoke detectors. One common model is a plug-in carbon monoxide detector that fits into the electrical outlets of your Tampa, FL home, which can be found in many stores and pharmacies. Although these models are convenient, they are not the safest choice for your family. Most standard electrical outlets are near the floor, which makes them inadequate when it comes to CO detection. Carbon monoxide, like most gasses, rises to fill the room that it is in, meaning that carbon monoxide detectors near the floor may not detect higher levels of CO until it is too late.
Just like smoke detectors, Integrity Home Solutions can install either battery-powered or hardwired carbon monoxide detectors on the walls of your home, where they will be more effective at keeping you and your family safe. Some Tampa, FL homeowners even choose to install combination smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, so that they will be prepared for either a fire or carbon monoxide leak at all times.
Integrity Home Solutions is proudly & professionally serving the greater Tampa, FL area.
It can be tempting to try and DIY home projects like installing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. After all, most home improvement stores, retail stores, and even pharmacies sell smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Even though it seems relatively easy to install your own smoke or carbon monoxide detectors, we recommend contacting your Tampa, FL electrical experts at Integrity Home Solutions to handle the installation process. There are several reasons why you should have Integrity Home Solutions professionals install your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors:
Off the top of your head, you probably don’t know how many smoke detectors or carbon monoxide detectors your home should have, or where they should be placed. The experts at Integrity Home Solutions know exactly where you should have smoke and carbon monoxide detectors installed. Obviously, just one smoke or carbon monoxide detector is not enough to keep your household safe. In general, you should have one smoke and carbon monoxide detector on each floor level, one smoke and carbon monoxide detector outside each sleeping area, and for smoke detectors, one inside each sleeping area.
What’s just as important is knowing where not to install each type of detector. Smoke detectors should be installed no closer than 10 feet of your kitchen or any cooking appliances to ensure that there are no false alarms from minor cooking fires or steam. Carbon monoxide detectors, on the other hand, should not be installed near a gas powered water heater or furnace, as they naturally emit small amounts of carbon monoxide when they start up, which would trigger false alarms in your Tampa, FL home.
It’s unlikely that you are familiar with your local laws on how many smoke detectors you should have in your home, or that you know what it means for your home to be up to code. That’s where the experts at Integrity Home Solutions come in. We are well versed in the Tampa, FL laws and regulations regarding smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and we can also make sure that your home’s smoke and carbon monoxide detector wiring is up to code.
It may sound counterintuitive, but hiring a Integrity Home Solutions professional to install your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors can actually save you money in the long run. A Integrity Home Solutions expert can ensure that your detectors are installed and wired correctly, as incorrect wiring may incur fines for code violations in some areas. You’ll also avoid faulty wiring that would end up costing you in repairs down the line. The Integrity Home Solutions professional will also be able to inspect other electrical problems in your home at the same time, which can help prevent small problems from turning into large issues that are more expensive to fix.
Unless you have had the proper training, working with electrical systems can be incredibly dangerous. You may not know which wires are live, and which are safe to touch. Working with electrical wires always presents some risks, and installing hardwired and interconnected smoke and carbon monoxide detectors is more complex than installing battery-powered units. That is why the installation of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors should always be completed by a Integrity Home Solutions professional.
The experts at Integrity Home Solutions are trained and certified to work with electrical units, and can make sure any installation job is done properly, no matter which system of detectors you decide to install in your Tampa, FL home. They know which safety tests need to be completed before turning on your new detectors, and they also know how to troubleshoot any issues that may arise with your wiring or electrical system after installation is complete.
At Integrity Home Solutions, our experts will keep your best interests in mind when it comes to making your home safe. Jason came today to give us quote for duct cleaning but ended up inspecting the whole AC unit. He did a thorough inspection and explained to my parents about the severe blockage of airflow through the unit at different areas. Our AC unit is 24 years old and he was very polite, knowledgeable, and understanding of our situation and in general. My parents did not want to make decision today for new AC unit and he never came across as pushy salesman. Hopefully we will decide soon. Today’s visit was very awesome and productive.

I am so grateful for MK and the amazing work that he did. I just purchased a condo, and I am visually impaired and did not realize that how bad the electrical work was here until things started not working. I called your company and you sent the technician right away to restore my power that night. And then he returned the next day and worked many hours in order to insure me that all of the electrical hazards have been taken care of and I appreciate that very, very much. I will undoubtedly give you guys a call. As I will be upgrading other aspects of the electrical system in the near future. And MK is my guy...please keep him happy and take good care of him.
